Pastry Skies - Game Jam Devlog


Take flight! Get pastries! 

In this Game Jam, I wanted to focus on effects. The unfortunate result of that meant having a pretty simple game and gameplay. I created an endless runner where you try to collect donuts and avoid cannon balls. I played around with particle effects, 'juicy' movement, camera shake, and having sounds effects. Some of these Ive played with a little before but I wanted to try out new effects as well.

In addition, I played around with a strategy of having a single scene, and having the full game play within that. The menu and game over screens are just panel changes (its pretty obvious with the UI and ship in the background). Overall, I have fun with some simplified graphics, and constructing a game that is hopefully fun enough to play for a short bit.

Overall, the game was made in about 10-20 hours total within the 72 hours, and its definitely a big step up from my other endless runner game, https://attx-wf.itch.io/drifting-upward. Enjoy! And let me know what you think!
