This next update dramatically changes saving. Game will no longer automatically save progress. Player action is required. Please read more below.
Updates:
- Refactored saving! Game will no longer automatically save. Player must go into Pause Menu (Esc) and click Save or Save and Exit button to save progress. The Insert key still currently works, as well, but is considered a debug feature that may not survive the final release. Closing the game without saving will result in lost progress (but maybe that's exactly what you wanted).
- As mentioned above, a Save button and Save and Exit button were added to the Pause Menu.
- Added a Delete Save button on the main menu. This will delete all your current progress (credits, crystals, upgrades, player position).
- Restructured the Port UI slightly to give the player better controls. Added Zero, Half and All buttons to the crystals in player's inventory. This will allow you to quickly switch between amounts of crystals for selling larger amounts faster (no more clicking 150 times to sell all your green crystals).
Thoughts/Observations:
- There are additional plans to add more of a 'character' element to the game. It probably won't be a full fledged character creator, but at very least, I want to allow for the player to pick a name.
- Future save enhancements will include ability to have multiple save files (likely 3 or 4).
