Updates:
- Separated crystals into their own counts, which will reflect the collecting aspect of the game better than a scoring system would. Also added a symbol next to each count.
- Created a pause menu that you can access with Escape button. Pause menu is currently very basic, but it was nice to ship that feature.
- Increased max crystals per instance up to 9999 until instances are better developed.
- Fixed a bug in the randomized positioning for the crystals that was causing the yellow crystals to only come from the top left corner.
- Slowed down speed of crystals and randomized the speed within a range of speeds. This creates a better feeling that they are just floating through space, not shooting through space. This also makes them a little easier to catch up to to collect.
Thoughts/Observations:
- Started working on a Fuel bar, but scrapped it after it was discovered that I was not using up to date advice on how to do things the best way in Unity. /shrug Future iterations will contain a fuel/power bar that slowly decreases over time, and decreases faster while using thrusters to navigate. This way you can't just sit motionless and 'accidentally' collect crystals which could break the game mechanics.
